About the Event

This series, hosted by Dr. Michael Crosbie, will bring in experts from the fields of architecture and religion to reflect on the intersections of form, culture, and belief.  Notable guests include award-winning architects and scholars Dr. Tammy Gaber; WIlliam Stanley, III, AIA; Mryam Eskandari, AIA; and courageous leaders for interreligious peace and architecture.

 .

For this session, we will have the incredible opportunity to go inside and speak with those who lead the The Peace Cathedral and its connected Peace Synagogue and Peace Mosque in the Republic of Georgia, a country spanning Eastern Europe and Western Asia.  Located in the capital city Tbilisi, the Peace Cathedral is being designed as a spiritual home for Abrahamic faiths.  In this session, our speakers will delve into the history of interreligious relations in the area, and how the Peace Cathedral is a profound example modeling a desired future.  Architecturally, we will learn:  how are the three sacred spaces designed to work in harmony?  How do the separate sacred spaces exist "in dialogue"?  And how do they encourage interaction and understanding across difference?  What has been the impact so far?  This and more with the Peace Cathedral clergy, their interfaith partners from the Abrahamic religions, and Dr. Mike Crosbie and Dr. Vanessa Avery, hosts.
