Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Sharing Sacred Spaces, Inc. is committed to creating an environment of belonging and empowerment for all people across the shared space of our planet.

As values,

we trust in the goodness and power of people;

we stand for the inherent worth of all people;

we uphold a foundation of dialogue and the recognition that there may be multiple truths; and

we strive for all people to feel safe and welcome.

Diversity, for Sharing Sacred Spaces, includes characteristics such as race, gender, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual identity, familial status, age, ability, socio-economic status, political preference, and more.  Diversity, for us, also encompasses the experiences, viewpoints, backgrounds, and life experiences that form the unique identity and contribution of each human being.

Equity means recognizing that we do not all start from the same place and must acknowledge imbalances and make adjustments to rectify them. Our efforts toward equity are based in our desire for both inner and outer harmony, balance, and unity.  Equity is the spiritual disposition of a unified humanity existing in balance and peace.

Inclusion is valuing, respecting, and encouraging the full participation of each individual in the life and leadership of the organization that comes out of the spiritual understanding of the interconnectedness of all life, and the inherent worth and dignity of each and every being.

Sharing Sacred Spaces celebrates the rich diversity of all those we serve.  We oppose discrimination, disrespect, bias, harassment, or hate of any kind.

As an organization and Board of Directors, we agree to be guided by these principles and pledge that they will be reflected in our vision, mission, strategic planning, recruitment, hiring, programming, partnerships, governance, and leadership composition.
