About the Event

Please join the next stop in this year's exploration of sacred spaces in the greater Newburyport area! Congregation Ahavas Achim hosts a sacred space visit. We can't wait to share it with you!

Founded in 1896, Congregation Ahavas Achim is an egalitarian, nondenominational synagogue and one of the oldest in Massachusetts to remain continuously open without ever merging. Under Rabbi Alex Matthews, this dynamic and diverse community embraces people of all ages, backgrounds, and lifestyles, and encourages lifelong Jewish learning.

About the visit: This visit invites us into a tradition tracing back thousands of years to Abraham, and into a building constructed as a Methodist church some 150 years ago. Here's what to expect:

  • Tour of the synagogue, with its tradition, beliefs, and local history

  • Insights into Torah, Shabbat, and the rhythms of Jewish practice

  • Time to connect and share in conversation together
